Community Health Information Centres (CHIC)
The Community Health Information Centre (CHIC) provides free health resources to any person or organisation in the Canterbury, South Canterbury, and West Coast regions and the Chatham Islands.
We distribute resources developed by Te Mana Ora | Community and Public Health staff, and from other health agencies including:
- Ministry of Health;
- Te Whatu Ora Health Promotion – formerly the Health Promotion Agency;
- the Cancer Society;
- Family Planning; and
- the Mental Health Foundation.
The service has been operating since 1992, under several previous names such as ‘Health Education’ (Department of Health) and ‘The Pamphlet Place’ (Healthlink South).
You can visit one of our centres in Timaru and Greymouth to view or order resources.
