Let’s kick butt together during Stoptober
Stoptober NZ is a fun stop smoking challenge for anyone thinking about ‘kicking butt’. It aims to supporting thousands of kiwis to stop smoking during October.
For many smokers quitting can be one of the hardest things to do, many find it even harder to just get started on a quit journey. So the new National Tobacco Control Advocacy service Hāpai are encouraging smokers to sign up to the one month challenge of being Smokefree.

The evidence shows that even after only 4 weeks of being smokefree you are 5 times more likely to be Smokefree for life.
Stoptober 2015 involved a record number of smokers and supporters signing up for the challenge. Many Māori smokers successfully completed the challenge and even remained Smokefree.
Our country adopted the goal of reducing smoking rates to minimal levels, thereby making New Zealand a ‘smokefree’ nation by 2025.
