    More information

The West Coast office serves one of the most sparsely populated regions in New Zealand, including the Buller, Grey and Westland Districts. The remote nature of many small and isolated communities poses specific health challenges around sewage treatment and disposal, and potable water.

The team on the West Coast includes:

    • two Health Protection Officers addressing environmental health and infectious disease concerns,
    • health promoters focusing on healthy eating, being physically active and advocating the smokefree lifestyle, and
    • administration staff.

The Greymouth office has also a Community Health Information Centre, providing a range of free health education resources from the Ministry of Health and other providers.
