Nutrition / Appetite for Life

Appetite for Life is a healthy lifestyle and weight loss programme for women developed by Community and Public Health.  The programme is run by Bronwen King, a well known Nutritionist in the Canterbury Area.

Using an "anti-diet" approach, it assists women to develop a new relationship with food and say no to dieting forever.

A typical food tasting spread in Appetite for Life. Appetite for Life assists women to:

  • Eat for health, not weight
  • Enjoy activity
  • Make informed decisions about food
  • Prepare healthy food, adjust recipes
  • Feel and look better
  • Identify non-hungry eating and replace this with healthier behaviour

Food tasting is an important part of the course.

The programme involves small group sessions for two hours a week over a six week period. Sessions are led by an accredited facilitator from a medical practice (usually the practice nurse). The course is highly subsidised and available at the low cost of $25 per person for the complete 6 week programme.
