Many activities that have the potential to adversely effect our environment, consequently have adverse public health effects. Services such as running water and sewerage have contributed historically towards large improvements in population health. Over recent years other issues such as ionisation, noise, waste management, air quality, recreational waters, shellfish gathering, and housing have become very much a part of environmental health.
